One thing that is often overlooked, and can negatively affect your computer's performance, are all the files that are in the TEMP directory.
1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\User_Name\Local Settings\Temp (where User_Name is replaced by the person who is logged in)
2. Delete all the files

Vista messes up your Digital Photos :: Metadata Issue
Microsoft has warned Vista users that the operating system fails to manage photo metadata correctly. While Microsoft has worked to streamline the process of adding comments and information
to photographs, the results are less than successful. In fact, Windows Vista and the Microsoft Photo Info tool can destroy the metadata and even create problems with the image.
“When you edit the properties of a photo to add metadata to that photo in Windows Vista, the software for the digital camera may no longer recognize the metadata that is automatically added to the photo by the digital camera. This metadata is specific to the manufacturer of the camera,” informs Microsoft.
Currently, Microsoft has not released a definitive solution to this issue. However, Microsoft did reveal a temporary workaround. According to Microsoft, Vista users should steer clear of the Photo Acquisition Wizard. Users that want to keep the metadata added by the digital camera's software should not download their images onto the hard disc via the Photo Acquisition Wizard.
Additionally, Windows Vista users are advised against editing the properties of the images stored locally on their hard drives via Windows Photo Gallery or Windows Explorer.
Apple tells Music industry to keep Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology away
Apple Computer CEO, Steve Jobs, has opened a can of worms with his suggestion that record labels do away with their need for online music to be wrapped in Digital Rights Management (DRM) technology.
Meanwhile, record labels; Universal Music Group, EMI Music, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, and Warner Music Group, have always maintained, and continue to maintain that DRM is a critical requirement for keeping rampant piracy at bay.
Jobs has published an open letter, "Thoughts on Music" on the Apple Web site, wherein he talks about Apple's perspective on digital music distribution, and the role of DRM.
He writes, "Imagine a world where every online store sells DRM-free music encoded in open licensable formats. In such a world, any player can play music purchased from any store, and any store can sell music which is playable on all players. This is clearly the best alternative for consumers, and Apple would embrace it in a heartbeat."
Jobs goes on to say that with 90 percent of total yearly music sales comprising CDs that are essentially DRM-free, anyone in possession of a music CD can easily rip the content to MP3, WMA, AAC, or any other digital format, free of DRM restrictions.
As such, Jobs questions whether DRM is actually required at all, when digital distribution remains such a miniscule portion of total music sales.
In his letter, Jobs also discusses two other possibilities: one, of the industry continuing with its current DRM systems; the other, of Apple licensing its proprietary DRM technology, 'FairPlay' to competitors to achieve interoperability. However, he promptly rejects the second possibility, sounding-off concern over possible compromise of the 'FairPlay' system.
Of course, Jobs' suggestion is to be seen in the light of the recent fracas over DRM in Norway, where Apple has been literally given an ultimatum to either open-up its closed iTMS-iPod ecosystem, or cease operations within the country.
As such, the people of Norway are happy to see Jobs take on the responsibility that comes from being the head of a company that is considered a pioneer in the digital music space.
However, the murmur is getting louder that Jobs seems to be missing the wood for the trees in urging record labels to abandon DRM, when it is Apple themselves who should be leading by example.
Plugoo - Let your website visitors chat with you
I just checked this new service called Plugoo.
Plugoo is a neat widget that allows visitors to chat directly from your website to your Instant Messenger. With other embeddable chat services, such as Geesee, you and your visitors chat through the widget on your site. But with Plugoo, your visitors send and receive messages using the widget while you respond with your MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk, or Jabber Instant Messenger (no AIM support yet).

Netscape Browser 9.0 to be released shortly
Although it hasn't seen a major update in well over a year, the Netscape browser is about to get a makeover, according to a teaser posted to the Netscape blog. Version 9.0 of the software, which AOL reincarnated in 2005, is due in the coming months.
A number of things are already known about Netscape 9. Most notably, the browser will have deep integration with the new Netscape.com user-driven news site that debuted last year and mirrored the functionality of Digg.
Also, developers say it will remain a standalone product built atop Mozilla's Firefox code base; it will not contain a mail client or Web page editor. Instead, the browser will integrate a number of different Firefox extensions that relate to Netscape.com, including a Friends' Activity Sidebar and Sitemail Notifier.
The new browser will now be cross-platform, compatible with Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Smaller features are getting focused on for 9.0, such as a redesign of Netscape's FTP view.
When it was first reborn, the Netscape Browser was intended to be a friendlier version of Firefox, adding more privacy features and phishing protections, as well as the option to render pages using Internet Explorer's Trident engine for compatibility. The software included a "Trust Rating" system that warned users of potentially dangerous Web sites.
